Gorgeous new wool from Italy!

Hello Everyone!

This organic wool called Stout, is just the perfect yarn to make a  wonderfully neutral piece to go with all your fall, and winter outerwear.

This yarn comes from untreated wool  which is not subjected to any  dyeing. The colour is in fact the natural colour of the sheep.

With 300 metres and in a beautifully gradient colour-way, you can make this lush, glorious cowl or a couple  smaller ones for gifts .

I love the way the colours blend into each other, giving the piece movement and an interest that you do not get from a singly coloured yarn.

With 6.5 mm it  makes for some very fast knitting, which is always a plus!

As always pictures of the yarn and cowl can be seen on my Blog http://thepurplesock.blogspot.ca/

Next Saturday Dec 5th is the Candlelight walk and Santa Claus parade, a great night for the whole family!!

Don't forget to come in and add your wishes for Christmas to our book!!

Dragon Strings Another Great Local yarn

Hello everyone,

My interest in local yarns was seriously peaked when these incredible yarns came in from Victoria Harbour, with their stunning colours and funky names, the yarns from Dragon Strings are just lovely.

In both gradient and mirrored gradient fingering weight,  Phoenix Wings Superwash Merino and nylon yarn is perfect for socks, shawls or any item where you want a lovely soft drape.

In addition, another one-of-a-kind yarn pictured here, is Gnome Hat..with 85% Superwash Merino and lots of fun, colourful neps that add terrific texture to your knitting.

These yarns would be a great addition to your stash, or seeing as Christmas is not far away, you could come in and place them on your "Wish List"....

On another note , the yarn I told you about not long ago....Hedgehog Fibres Yarn....has just flown out the door! So I will be placing another order in the next few days. I thought I would give you Hedgehog fans a chance to help pick the colours, and the weights of yarn that I order. So if you want to go and take a look at the colours available, and send me your preferences I will  see what I can do!!  https://www.flickr.com/photos/29825916@N05/albums/72157631857450574
but don’t wait too long as I want to get the order in!! I will be ordering in the one called Sock unless anyone is interested in a different one. There seems to be a fair bit of interest in the one she calls Skinny Singles which is what Stephen West seems to be using these days.

Take care and Happy Knitting

Great new Sirdar yarn

         Hello everyone!

This gorgeous wool/nylon blend has a history! Harrap Tweed is named for the Harrap Brothers whose company started in the 1880’s  and became  Sirdar  in 1934.

The colours are incredible, deep clarets, rich blues, soft heathery greens and browns. All are just perfect for capes, sweaters, hats or any item where you want the warmth of wool, the machine washability of a blend and the depth of colour that makes for a special gift for yourself or for someone in your gift list.

And also great pictures of the yarn and patterns on Sirdar’s website here http://www.sirdar.co.uk/yarns/classics/dk/Harrap_Tweed_DK_F087
