Hello everyone,

I am not sure what it is about Noro, the colour, the texture, the patterns...wait, it is ALL of those things!

It is just one of the coolest yarns to come along in years, and it just keeps getting better and better.

I just adore this sweater, especially the lovely lacey edging, and the patterns in the latest NORO magazine are fabulous..with both knitted and crocheted items, there is something for everyone.

This  Noro Kureyon  works up so quickly, and with Christmas less than two months away? Well, what can I say,  but to hurry on in and check this out....gorgeous colours, quick knit and great pricing? Sounds like a win-win to me!

Hi Everyone

Dragon Strings is an indie dye studio that focuses on fantastic one of a kind colourways and smooshy-smooth yarn bases. Inspiration is taken from photos, nature, geek culture and literary sources. You never know what's going to come out of the pot this week!

Visit the shop on Saturday, November 11th to see all the pretty yarns that she's bringing. We'll have the whole line on display from gradients to lace to new super chunky light as a feather smooshies. We might even have a few of the 'can't keep in on the shelves' Yaksha! Come early for best selection as everything is One Of A Kind, although she does take custom orders if you find something that you just NEED to have in blue, or green, or rainbow.

Annika will be here for you to meet and talk with about her lovely yarns from  10 am to 4 pm , so don't miss out on this opportunity to see and purchase  her wonderful  yarns and meet this talented dyer!!

"And the wheel stops at...

THE PURPLE SOCK!!!!

 Hello everyone!

I am so excited to share the newest addition to The Purple Sock!!

Up until now, it has been lovely new yarns, great needle sets, hand dyed rovings and cool notions, but this is even bigger!

TA-DA!! I am a new dealer for  SpinOlution
https://www.spinolution.com/
and Louet spinning wheels!!
https://www.louet.com/spinning-wheels
There is lots of information  and pictures on their websites.

I host a spinning session here every Friday morning, which exposes me to so many different wheels and one which caught my eye was the tiny little SpinOlution Pollywog that one of the spinners had...so..fast forward a few weeks, and both the SpinOlution Pollywog, and her big sister, Echo, are now in the shop, ready for you to take a test drive!

And in addition to the SpinOlution line, the Louet S17, which is a fabulous single treadle wheel, is here as well, all beautifully painted by a local artist.  This wheel comes unfinished so you can make it your own!!
They have a great special on this wheel til the end of December!!

So come on it and give them a try!!

Happy Knitting ( and Spinning!)

The other Ella Rae yarn is their Lace Merino, a superwash extra fine Merino with 276 metres in a 100 gram skein. There are some gorgeous colours, come on in and check them out!

Over the 2 classes you will learn the Brioche pattern with two soft and warm bulky yarns. With fall coming and those chilly mornings  wouldn't a nice pair of warm fingerless mitts be just the thing to keep you hands warm? In this class you can practice your  magic loop skills and make a pair of fingerless mitts with a thumb. Using a worsted weight yarn these are a quick knit and have a nice pattern but not too hard for new knitters. You'll learn to build a thumb gusset, reverse stockinette and cast off in pattern. You will need to be comfortable with knitting in the round,  either by magic loop or double points.
You would need 4.5mm or 5mm needles, either double pointed needles or a 32" or longer circular if you are planning to do magic loop, depending on how tightly you want them knit.
